“EXIT, THE FAULT OF BEING SINCERE” MUSIC VIDEO FOLLOWS PREVIOUS COLLABORATIONS WITH RADIOHEAD, THE KILLERS, MUSE & SIMPLE PLAN

BANGKOK – 22 FEBRUARY 2013: Today, MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) in partnership with USAID, AusAID and Walk Free, announces the exclusive, worldwide premiere of the MTV EXIT + HUGO music video that dramatically highlights the dangers and the impact of human trafficking. The video will be broadcast early Sunday morning, 24 February at 12:30 a.m. across Thailand on Channel 7.

The powerful lyrics of the track Exit, the Fault of Being Sincere, written and performed by Hugo, convey the damaging outcomes of human trafficking and exploitation on individuals and families. Following the exclusive premiere on Channel 7, the musicvideo will also be released in late February on MTV EXIT’s website at mtvexit.org.

Hugo is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter that draws on his Thai and British roots to create lyrics and music that bridge his upbringing among the Mekong River jungle and his current home of Manhattan. Signed to American rap-royalty Jay-Z’s Roc Nation entertainment label, Hugo’s music captures audiences across the globe with his soulful blend of blues and beats.

This unique music video represents an innovative and creative way to fuse popular musical content with MTV EXIT’s pro-social messaging to engage youth in the fight against human trafficking and exploitation. The gripping four-minute video takes viewers inside the emotionally charged and artfully constructed story of an innocent young boy taken and held against his will.

“I am so proud to partner with MTV EXIT on this project. My hope is that this music video ‘Exit, the Fault of Being Sincere’ will encourage more people to join the fight against human trafficking,” said Hugo. “I encourage everyone to go to mtvexit.org and share this link on social media. Join me and take stand against modern-day slavery.”

The Exit, the Fault of Being Sincerevideo was conceived by and produced with generous in-kind support from PERSP3CTIVE in Bangkok, Thailand. The gripping images provide dramatic insight into the realities of tricks and traps of trafficking, in particular the trafficking of children.

The Hugo + MTV EXIT music video is the fifth in a series of award-winning collaborations to illustrate the dangers and the impact of human trafficking that launched in 2008 with Radiohead for the track “All I Need,” followed by a video with The Killers in 2009 by David Slade (“Twilight: Eclipse) for the song “Goodnight, Travel Well,” the 2010 “MK Ultra video with Muse, and 2012’s gripping Simple Plan video “This Song Saved My Life.”
